Cold water leads to hot water in Milwaukee

Here's a clever update to the classic lemonade stand -- kids in Milwaukee, Wisconsin are selling bottles of cold water at intersections to overheated drivers. At a dollar a bottle, it's a deal for the drivers who likely want to cool off without having to stop. For the kids, it's an easy way to earn some money for school supplies or summer fun. The problem is, city officials are worried about the kids' safety.Alderman Joe Davis, whose district includes several intersections where children sell bottled water, says "for me, the safety hazard is with them standing in the median with so much traffic." Davis wants local police to warn kids that they can sell from the sidewalk but not from the median or in the street. Kids can even be fined -- up to $75 for selling from the median.
What do you think of this? Would you let your kids sell water at an intersection? From the median?Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
